A Little About Myself
I’m Leandre — a geeky tech guy currently living in the Philippines!
University
I took up B.S. Management Engineering (or Management Science) in Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. During my university years, I co-owned and operated 4 different food stalls across 3 years. It was also here where I started my programming journey — taking a data science minor and going on a 2-month data science bootcamp in BYU in Utah (read about it here).
Work
Right after college, I started off my career by moving to Cebu for a year and pursuing data science in UnitedHealth Group R&D. I did some interesting machine learning, statistics, and AI work on early-stage healthcare projects involving diabetes, cancer, and mental health alongside crazy talented colleagues and under some of the most compassionate bosses out there.
After 3.5 years of data science, I pursued a job in Web3 by taking on a business intelligence role in Enjin — the company I currently work for. Aside from generating insights, setting up data pipelines and tagging, and reporting, I also do campaign management, some front-end work (Webflow), and product management work.
On the side, I run a Shopee and Lazada store that sells magnetic card cases for card collectors.
Hobbies
The most unique hobby I have is speedsolving! My dad taught me how to solve the Rubik’s cube when I was 9 years old, and I’ve been at it ever since! I can solve the cube in 15 seconds on average, and my record is 7.666 seconds (an extremely lucky solve!).
I’m also a huge geek for productivity and self-improvement, which is why I love reading and listening to lots of books, audiobooks, and podcasts!
Some of my favorite authors:
Some of my favorite podcasts:
My First Million (current favorite)
I also love consumer tech, entrepreneurship, programming, crypto/NFTs, the NBA (mostly LeBron James), online games like Runescape, Kdramas and sitcoms, and traveling!
This newsletter will reflect my interests, so you can be sure it will be as wide-ranging as some of these hobbies of mine.
Sign-up now and join me as I explore all the interesting things life has to offer!
P.S. This edition is very similar to the welcome newsletter some later subscribers may have received. The purpose of send this one is to have a proper introductory/welcome post on Substack. Thanks again! :)
